Tasmania Government Schools is a system of public schools recognized to provide curriculum and support to international students. Programs and Courses

  • Primary Program (Kindergarten to Grade 6)

Tasmania Government Schools provide an enriching learning environment on basic skills of literacy, numeracy, and IT. Teachers also find ways to work with children and families to develop an awareness of self-worth and the values that they need for life in a global society. Teachers will provide interactive lessons in all fields including English, Maths, Science, Art, and History.

Junior High School Program (Grade 7-10)

In Junior High School, you will study a broad range of subjects, both academic and recreational. These school years are very good for you to work out which subjects you are concerned about, and which subjects you want to study further in the future. In grades 7 and 8, you will learn a broad range of compulsory subjects including the main one's Math, Science, English, and Humanities, as well as recreational subjects such as Physical Education, Art, Computing, and Design and Technology. 

In grades 9 and 10, you will continue learning core subjects Maths, Science, English, Humanities, but you can choose subjects in which you are interested. For example, you are strongly interested in Science and Computing, so you can choose advanced Computing and Science.

  • Senior High School Program

Proving programs are designed to encourage students to develop a work ethic and help students gain a set of skills that they can apply into their research or working in the future. 

In grades 11 and 12, you will be able to choose subjects. English is compulsory, however, you can then choose the subject areas that you want to focus on. There is a broad range of areas provided. There are options including subjects focusing on academics such as Math, Science, History, Religion, but there are also recreational subjects such as Photography, Drama, and Outdoor Education.

Vocational training is also available at Tasmania’s Senior High Schools. Students are able to complete Certificate I and II in areas such as Hospitality, Tourism, Automotive, and Business, as well as many others. These courses connect to a pathway for further vocational training at TasTAFE.

Entry Requirements

Until grade 11, students don't need any Certification or English tests to enter schools of the TGS system. 

To grade 11 and 12, IELTS must be at 5.0 or higher ( no band lower than 5.0) to be exempted from 20 weeks of preparatory English

 

Scholarships

Tasmania Government Scholarship in 2021

Scholarship for 25% tuition fees in the first term. 

Requirement: Students have to write an essay to answer 4 questions and write an application for a scholarship. Students that receive the scholarship will be Education Ambassadors for Tasmania Government.
