The Kilmore International School

 

The KIlmore International School, which is a member of the International Baccalaureate Organization, provides general education from grade 3 to grade 12. TKIS ensures a teaching quality can help students achieve a high result in Australian Tertiary Admission Ranking (ATAR).

 

About TKIS

The Kilmore International School was built on a model of International school. Established in 1990, the school has been providing an education with international quality to all domestic and international students in Victoria, Australia.

Since it opened in 1990 with 2 international students, the school has developed Alumni who are employed by many leading corporations in the world. The school has a dynamic community of graduates who are close friends with staff and fellow students. 


 

Strengths and Achievements

The Kilmore International School has many graduates achieving high scores in the Australian Tertiary Admission Ranking with the average at 90, in 2020. In the same class, 55% of graduates had an ATAR score above 90 with 12% of the total having scores above 98,3. TKIS’s students also have the highest ATAR scores with 99,55, in addition to 53 excellent scores of 45% of students in 27 subjects, 39 bilingual (diploma) was given to the students in the school year.

 

Facilities

The Kilmore International School offers boarding from grade 7, all Boarding Houses have common rooms such as kitchen, television, and wifi. The dining room provides delicious and nutritious meals. The school provides ample space with many observed activities for students to develop, study, and entertain. Every student is a member of the local golf club as well as a community entertaining center with a swimming pool and gym for boarding students after school. 

Programs and Courses

Primary school (grade 3-6)

The program focuses on literacy and numeracy, and some additional subjects such as music, visual art, drama, as well as the library, physical education, science, and second language which is Chinese.

Students are also able to participate in many activities such as playing instruments, performing on stage in school’s play, participating in interscholastic sports, joining annual school trips, and camping.

Secondary high school (grade 7-9)

The core program is literacy and numeracy. The Australian government teaching program provides subjects to prepare necessary knowledge to succeed in the International Baccalaureate. 

To have the International Baccalaureate, students do not only study the first language, but also study second language, Math, and subjects from social science, experimental science and art.

Senior high school

In grade 10, students have to study Australian programs including English, Math, Social Science, Social and Humanities Science, Health Science, and Physical Education.

In grade 11 and 12, students will study the International Baccalaureate program (IB). Students are required to complete their personal research and submit an essay, take part in an exam in putting knowledge into practice and participate in other personal development activities.

Entry Requirement

To apply for an international student in The Kilmore International School, the application form must be filled and submitted with copies of the passport or student’s birth certificate as well as certified copies of the school,  and transcript (the last 2 years). Each candidate has to do an entry test in English and Maths.

Application is considered separately based on the result of the entry test and the profile of the student.

 

Scholarships

Academic scholarship:

The Kilmore International School offers an annual Scholarship through the ACER organization.

The scholarship is awarded to grade 7 students, and students with excellent performance. The scholarship pays 25% of the tuition fee.

Students have to do the test of ACER organized annually to get the scholarship.
