University of Tasmania (UTAS) is a public research university, located in Tasmania, Australia. The university is a member of the International Association of Commonwealth Universities and the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning. 

About UTAS

Founded in 1890, UTAS is Australia's fourth oldest university, and also a public school in the top 4 first established universities in Australia and is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.

Being the only university in Hobart city - the capital of Tasmania makes UTAS an ideal destination for international students. In UTAS,  students may receive special attention as well as many benefits from the government.

– Offers bedrooms in a shared kitchen, with schools nearby.

Jane Franklin Dormitory offers a single bedroom with a telephone.

Entry Requirements

Bachelor’s Program: submitting a diplomat with qualified scores equivalent to 12th grade in Australia or enrolling in the Pre-university Program for students who fail to fulfill the above-mentioned requirements. 

Master’s Program: submitting a diplomat with qualified scores equivalent to a bachelor’s degree. Work experience may be required or used as a substitute for admission for some undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Unless your English skills have been accepted by a recognized English-speaking country, you must provide proof of your current English skills through IELTS, TOEFL PTE Academic, Cambridge CAE, Cambridge CPE, Cambridge BEC và UTASAccess-English.

If you have ever attended a program taught and assessed entirely in English, you may be eligible for entering into UTAS.  If you do not meet the levels of proficiency in English through a test designed by UTAS, you will be provided a private testing system by the English Language Center in UTAS. 

Scholarships

Tasmanian International Scholarship (TIS) is one of Australia's most generous scholarship programs for international students. This is an award for academic achievement in the form of a 25% reduction in tuition with most undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

At the time of application, you will be automatically considered for the TIS based on your academic achievement achieved during high school, diplomas and certificates, and qualifications and grading scale ( can be various significantly from country to country).  Applications are assessed for all intakes and the selection will be based on the most qualified candidate's degree prior to the start of his/ her intended course (minimum one year)
