Nursery schools and Kindergartens
Compulsory public nursery schools and kindergartens in The US are not in need. Most of the families voluntarily find schools, pay the fees for nursery and kindergartens.
Primary school
At the age of 6, students are allowed to start to study at primary schools. Primary education includes 5 grades, from grade 1 to grade 5.
Secondary school
After finishing 5 grades of primary education, students would step into the next page called “Secondary school”. Secondary education includes Middle schools / Junior high school (from grade 6 to grade 9) and High school (from grade 9 to grade 12).
Higher education
Students after finishing secondary school will have a chance to study at a higher education. To higher education, students have 2 specific choices:
Junior or Community college: Students will have 2 years studying at a 2-year-college course and students can get an Associate Degree after completing 2 years in college. Then, students will study another 2-year-course at a Senior College or a University to get a Bachelor Degree.
Senior college or University: Students will have a chance to get a Bachelor Degree.
Postgraduate education
Students who got Bachelor's Degree can keep on studying in 1 or 2 years to get a Master's Degree or a Doctorate Degree.
Master degree - MA: Usually takes 2 years.
Doctorate degree - Ph.D.: For students who want to pursue academic careers in particular fields. The program lasts from 2 to 6 years. However, some schools require a Master's to continue pursuing a Doctorate degree.
